Take What you Need, Leave What you Don't

At Cruise America, we can get your rental RV all ready for you to travel, but it's up to you to pack the things you want to take along. Especially when it comes to packing for the kitchen. While we do have some items that you might find useful to rent (such as pots, pans and silverware), the majority of items will need to come from you.

Our rental class C motorhomes are very comfortable, but no matter how much space there is in an RV, there always seems to be a need for more. This is especially true when it comes to the kitchen. For this reason, it's imperative that you plan and prepare, making a list of the items you absolutely have to have, as compared to the things you'd like to take along.

If you take all of your favorite kitchen gadgets and tools, you may not have room for your food. Try to avoid this, as your vacation is meant to be relaxing, not stressful. Your meal preparation should be fun, not a difficult chore. If you take the right amount of food and supplies, your kitchen experiences will be much more enjoyable.

Be sure to bring along condiments. After all, they are what will enhance, as well as change the flavor of the food. As an example, if you take a can of chili, that is exactly what you will have for dinner. However, if you take a can of beans, you can make them into several different dishes. You can place them on salad, make refried beans and even create dips. In addition, pasta and spaghetti sauce is always helpful to have on hand. All it takes is boiling some water and you're set. Remember, when it comes to cooking in your RV, the simpler … the better!

While there is a lot of space in our customized class C motorhomes, you must be prudent regarding the culinary tools you bring along. Here is the kitchen equipment we recommend taking with you. You can use this as a kitchen-packing list so you don't forget anything:

Cutting Board
Sharp Paring Knife
Large 10" Chef's Knife
Bread Knife
Vegetable Peeler
Serving Spoons
Can/Bottle Opener
Soup Ladle
Mesh Strainer or Colander
2 Saucepans
1 Medium Skillet (preferably non-stick)
1 Large Skillet (preferably non-stick)
Dutch Oven
Aluminum Foil
Plastic Wrap
Mixing Bowls
Baking Pan
Plastic Bags
Long Butane Lighter
Dishwashing Sponge
Dishwashing Detergent (preferably biodegradable)
Paper Towels
Plastic Tumblers/Mugs
Unbreakable dishes (ceramic or plastic)

If you plan on doing some outdoor cooking on the grill, then be sure to pack the needed accoutrements for that. You'll need charcoal, lighter fluid, spices and barbecue tools, not to mention … matches or a lighter!
