Common Sins of RV Barbequing – Continued

Last month we covered six of the twelve most common grilling mistakes (or mis-steaks) that outdoor chefs tend to make while barbequing on their camping excursions. They were:

Sin #1 – Using Lighter Fluid or Match Light Briquettes

Sin #2 – Spreading the Coals Before They Are Completely Gray

Sin #3 – Not Preheating the Grill

Sin #4 – Not Cleaning the Grill

Sin #5 – Cooking Over Too Much Direct Heat

Sin #6 – Lifting the Lid Too Much

As promised, here is…

RVing in South Dakota

Cruise America has locations all over the United States (and Canada). That’s because no matter which area of the country you may be visiting, there are things to see and do, and RVs are the best way to catch all the attractions.

If you’re not familiar with South Dakota, you may be missing a diamond in the rough. A simple drive through the state’s wide-open spaces, gently rolling grasslands, magnificent hand-carved rock formations and the crystal-clear night sky make you realize just…

Common Sins of RV Barbequing

We love to get photographs of vacationers enjoying their Cruise America motorhomes. A large number of these pictures seem to involve outdoor mealtime fun, and they almost always feature two things: A Cruise America RV and a barbeque grill!

Camping and barbequing have always gone hand in hand, and so we figured you may enjoy some barbequing tips. Actually, these are not so much “tips,” as they are suggestions on how to avoid the most common cookout sins that novice campsite chefs…

Countdown to Our Next RV Trip

My darling companion, Mike, and I are currently in the planning process for our next RV trip.  Although if I had my way, we'd always be planning our next RV trip.

OK, you caught me - I AM always planning our next RV trip!

This next trip will be kicking off in September and is part of an influencer marketing campaign we've put together called The Heartland Tour.  Most of the sponsors who have signed on are agave spirits brands (like tequila and mezcal) but we have a few…

Spend Money on Experiences Over Things

One of the best healers that we know of is happiness. It plays a crucial role in our health, as well as our state of mind. People go to great lengths to find happiness, thinking that the greater our riches become, the happier we will be. It’s true that having money certainly helps take care of the necessities in life, but once your basic needs are met, money doesn’t make you much happier.

One question that looms over consumers of today is just how to allocate the money that they do…

Summer in Coeur d’Alene

Near the western border of Idaho, just a hop, skip and a jump from the state of Washington, is Coeur d’Alene (known as “CDA” by the locals). This little town is truly a gemstone for all those who visit.

CDA was given its name by French fur traders referring to the Coeur d’Alene Indian tribe members. The term literally means “the heart of an awl (a very sharp tool).” The name reflects the French traders’ experience with the tribe’s traders as tough businessmen, “sharp-hearted” or…

Best RV dealer yet.

Just to let you all know, I have bought 3 motorhomes dating back to 1974. I recently (6 weeks ago) bought a used 28 Majestic from the Cruise Canada location in Bolton, Ontario. I sold used cars sometime ago, so I was a little sceptical when the salesman told me that the 2011 I was looking at would be checked over by their staff and made great for my use. I was surprised with the level of commitment that they showed. New curtains, cushions and a new mattress inside, new tires outside, a new… Continue

RVing Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is an immensely popular destination for RVers. It’s a 3,500-square-mile recreation area that is situated on top of a volcanic hot spot. The park spreads across Wyoming, but into parts of Montana and Idaho as well, so naturally, a motorhome is the perfect way to see the jaw-dropping views. There are gorgeous canyons, alpine rivers, dense forests, hot springs and gushing geysers, including the world-famous “Old Faithful.” There are also large numbers of wildlife…

Avoid the TSA Hassle by RVing

Taking a traditional family vacation is so relaxing. It’s a simple matter of figuring out how to pay for six airline tickets, and buying them in advance to avoid the last minute expense.

Packing is a breeze, if you are a proficient mathematician that can figure out the density factors for fitting everything you will need for ten days of travel into one (or two, if you don’t mind paying the extra fees) relatively small suitcase.

At Cruise America, we are grateful for the…

A Beautiful Shortcut

State Route 128 is one of Utah’s prettiest state highways. It has been designated as the Upper Colorado River Scenic Byway, and is part of the Utah Scenic Byways program. Locals, however, call this stretch of road “the River Road.” It connects the I-70 to the US 191, just to the north of Moab, Utah, and follows the banks of the Colorado River through a spectacular gorge, with high, sheer sandstone walls that provide a beautiful setting as you travel in your Cruise America rental RV. This…

The Tasty Benefits of Traveling by RV

One of the best things about traveling in a rental motorhome from Cruise America is that you don’t just fly over the tremendous beauty of a cross-country journey; you get to go through it, stopping whenever you like to “smell the roses.” Try that in an airplane!

This nation of ours is so diverse, that one could travel a lifetime and never see all there is to see. To experience the various cultures and customs from state to state is priceless when you’re creating family memories. But…

Things RVers Say

Becoming RVers

In 2015, we became RVers. We rented an RV from Cruise America for a 1-week trip to New Mexico and back. We had to take the trip and renting an RV just happened to be the least expensive way for us to do it. As it happened, we fell in love with RVing on that trip and decided we wanted to do a lot more of it.

Later last year, we took a 2-week trip. That's when we realized that we wanted to do too much once we had wheels under us and the only way to truly enjoy our…

Every state in the nation has its special charm. No matter where you travel, you will find intriguing landmarks and beautiful countryside. The western state of Arizona is certainly no exception. The natural attractions are abundant, and you can find several different climates within the boundaries of the state. This makes it an ideal place to take your Cruise America RV and hit the road. As a matter of fact, some of the best RV road trips can be found in the Grand Canyon State.

A Retirement Alternative

Some folks’ plans for retirement include working in the garden, taking up a hobby or just having more time to spend around the house. And there is nothing wrong with that. But for others, retirement means they can finally set out on the open road, traveling wherever they want, when they want, for as long as they choose. There is no better way to make this happen, than to travel in the comfort of a motorhome. Whether you decide to venture across the nation, or just take a trip to the nearest…
