Dear Cruise America,
I recently read on your website that Atlanta RV rentals are rapidly increasing. I thought I should write to your blog to tell you a quick story.
I am, by trade, a comic/ventriloquist, now living and performing in Las Vegas. I used to travel the country doing shows, mostly opening acts for headliner musicians. I didn’t normally take my family along, what with the kids in school and such, but during Spring break a few years ago I took my wife and three children on tour, so I decided to rent an RV from Cruise America at your Atlanta Airport rental center.
We intended to travel from Georgia down into Central Florida, where I was to perform. The first night we camped at an RV park. I was shocked at the number of people staying there, and realized that we were not the only ones that were headed to Florida. We counted 14 motorhomes with your recognizable outside paint jobs.
After dinner we started a campfire, and I decided to pull out my ventriloquist dummy (vent figure to be politically correct) and rehearse. My kids get a kick out of watching me practice. As I did my routine, people started walking over and watching, all laughing and clapping. Before long, I had a crowd of about 70 onlookers, cheering and applauding. At first I was embarrassed about the noise they were making, but I got into the swing of things and it was like a regular show. To my shock, the very famous singer (to remain unnamed) who I was to open for in a few days stepped up from the crowd, and asked if I was the act that was to open for him, to which I replied affirmatively. We laughed, then he went to his recreational vehicle (from Cruise America I might add) and got his guitar, and put on an impromptu concert for the RV community that had gathered around my campsite. Talk about a great start to our relationship!
I don’t know about the rest of the country, but as far as Cruise America RV rentals, Atlanta seemed to be a real hot spot then, and I’d guess it’s even hotter now! Thanks to the popularity of RV travel, I am very dear friends with someone who most people would love to say they were friends with!
A Las Vegas Ventriloquist
