This letter is just for the information of the readers, and contains no earth shattering information, but I wish I had read it before renting my first RV.
Class C RV rentals are the way to go, but I learned the hard way. When I was first looking for an RV to rent, Cruise America was the first company I called. When they told me that they only did class C RV rentals, I skipped right over them because I wanted more of a variety to choose from. I found a local place that rented me one of the large class A greyhound bus looking motorhomes. I guess I figured the bigger, the better. Man, was I miserable for having done that! It was so large, it practically took an entire crew just to help me back into an RV park space, or move around in a parking lot. I was practically stranded at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles forever! We did have a lot of living space. It was actually way more than we needed. The fuel consumption on that thing was stupidly expensive, and the visibility made navigating in the city almost impossible.
After that first experience, I ended up going back to Cruise America because I then understood the reason they only did the class C RV rentals. It was because they wanted the best for their customers. I rented from them several times until I knew just what size fit me the best. I ended up buying one of their used RVs, and it was the best financial move I ever made.
So, at least in this man’s opinion, class C rentals is definitely the way to go. I guess Cruise America knows what they are talking about!
